Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has made a major breakthrough in the Sabarimala gold misappropriation case. The team informed the Kerala High Court that it has traced the events that led to the removal of the Dwarapalaka idols for gold plating.
The SIT said it collected key documents and recorded witness statements. These helped investigators reconstruct how the idols left the temple and reached the gold-plating facility.
The probe focuses on allegations that gold linked to the project was misused. Investigators are examining whether officials followed proper procedures and accounted for all the gold.
The High Court reviewed the progress of the investigation on Thursday. The SIT told the court that it has identified the decisions and actions that led to the movement of the idols.
The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple is one of India’s most important pilgrimage centres. Any allegation involving temple assets attracts widespread public attention.
The investigation is continuing. The SIT is now working to identify those responsible and determine whether any criminal offences took place.
