Kerala Weather Update: IMD Issues Yellow Alert in Eight Districts for June 26 and 27

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for several districts in Kerala on June 26 and 27, warning of the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall.

According to the latest forecast, heavy rain is likely in parts of the state as monsoon activity remains active across Kerala.

Yellow Alert for June 26

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for the following districts on June 26:

  • Malappuram
  • Kozhikode
  • Wayanad
  • Kannur
  • Kasaragod

Yellow Alert for June 27

A Yellow Alert has been issued for the following districts on June 27:

  • Ernakulam
  • Thrissur
  • Palakkad
  • Malappuram
  • Kozhikode
  • Wayanad
  • Kannur
  • Kasaragod

A Yellow Alert indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. According to IMD guidelines, heavy rainfall refers to rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours. Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert, especially in regions prone to waterlogging, flooding, and landslides.

Advisory for Residents

People living near rivers, hilly regions, and landslide-prone areas should exercise caution during periods of intense rainfall. Travelers are also advised to monitor weather updates before planning long-distance journeys.

The IMD continues to monitor weather conditions and may issue further updates depending on the progress of the monsoon system over the coming days.
