Tamil Nadu Police Launch Public Grievance Days for Faster Complaint Resolution

Chennai, June 24: The Tamil Nadu Police has launched a new system to help people submit complaints more easily. Under the initiative, senior police officers will meet the public directly twice every week.

The move aims to improve police services and speed up complaint resolution. It also seeks to build stronger trust between citizens and the police.

Public Grievance Days to Be Held Twice a Week

The Tamil Nadu Police will observe Public Grievance Days every Wednesday and Saturday. People can meet police officers between 11 am and 1 pm and submit their complaints. As a result, citizens will no longer have to make repeated visits to different offices.

Senior Officers Will Hear Complaints

Police Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and Station House Officers will take part in the programme.

They will listen to complaints directly and speak with the complainants. They will also review each case and guide officials on the next steps. In addition, officers will monitor the progress of complaints to ensure timely action.

Police Aim to Resolve Cases Faster

Officials will issue a receipt for every complaint. Therefore, complainants can track their submissions more easily. The department has instructed officers to take action as quickly as possible. It has also asked them to resolve complaints within 15 days whenever possible.

Meanwhile, senior officers will review important cases and ensure that departments respond without delay.

Citizen-Friendly Facilities Planned

The DGP has asked police personnel to treat visitors with respect and courtesy. Police offices must provide seating arrangements and drinking water. They must also create a comfortable environment for people who visit to file complaints.

If a senior officer cannot attend a session, the next senior officer must conduct the programme. This will ensure that the service continues without interruption.

Initiative Expected to Improve Public Trust

Police stations receive complaints on many issues every day. These include cybercrime, online fraud, financial scams, family disputes, accidents, and harassment cases.

However, many people often complain about delays in getting a response. The new initiative aims to address those concerns.

As a result, citizens will have direct access to senior officers. They can explain their issues and receive guidance more quickly.

Officials believe the programme will improve transparency. It could also strengthen public confidence in the Tamil Nadu Police.
