Karnataka SIR: No Documents Needed for House-to-House Voter Verification

Bengaluru: The Karnataka SIR process began on June 30 with a house-to-house voter verification drive across the State. Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumar said voters do not need to submit any documents during this stage.

The Election Commission plans to cover more than 5.54 crore voters before July 29. Meanwhile, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have started visiting homes to distribute Enumeration Forms.

Mr. Anbu Kumar asked voters to receive the forms, fill them correctly, sign them, and return them to the BLOs. However, he clarified that BLOs will not collect any documents during the house-to-house survey.

Karnataka SIR Drive Covers Every Household

The Election Commission has trained thousands of BLOs for the Karnataka SIR exercise. Officers will visit every household where voters appear on the electoral roll as of June 16, 2026.

Officials will place a violet square sticker on houses after they distribute the forms. Meanwhile, they will place a red round sticker on locked houses. BLOs will visit those houses again if needed.

Draft Voter List on August 5

The Election Commission will publish the draft electoral roll on August 5. After that, voters can file claims or objections until September 4. The Commission will publish the final electoral roll on October 7.

Mr. Anbu Kumar urged people to cooperate with BLOs during the survey. He also said the Election Commission is conducting the entire Karnataka SIR process according to the law. He requested voters not to believe rumours and to follow only official updates.
