Oracle Layoffs: Employees Hit by Latest Restructuring Wave

Oracle has reportedly begun another round of layoffs affecting employees across multiple teams as the technology company shifts its focus towards artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centres. The latest job cuts come after Oracle reduced its workforce by around 13% during the fiscal year that ended in May 2026.

Affected employees reportedly received standardised messages informing them about the restructuring. The communications thanked workers for their contributions and directed them to DocuSign to complete severance-related documents. Employees were also asked to provide personal email addresses as access to company systems was expected to end soon.

The latest layoffs have raised concerns among affected workers about the way the restructuring was handled. Some employees described the process as impersonal, saying the standardised communication made them feel disconnected from the company after years of work.

The job cuts come at a time when Oracle is increasing its investment in artificial intelligence and data-centre infrastructure. The company has been expanding its operations in areas linked to AI computing, cloud infrastructure and large-scale data centres as demand for AI services continues to grow.

Oracle is also expected to continue hiring for selected roles connected to AI infrastructure, data-centre construction and related areas. The company has outlined plans involving tens of billions of dollars in spending, with estimates putting planned investment at around $90 billion to $95 billion.

This creates a significant shift in Oracle’s workforce strategy. While some traditional or less-prioritised roles are being eliminated, the company is directing resources towards areas expected to support the growing AI economy.

Reports and estimates suggest that thousands of additional positions could be affected by the latest restructuring. The exact number of employees impacted may vary as the company continues to make changes across different teams and locations.

The layoffs highlight a broader trend across the technology industry, where companies are reducing costs and restructuring teams while simultaneously increasing spending on artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data-centre capacity.

For Oracle employees affected by the latest cuts, however, the shift represents a major personal and professional disruption. The restructuring shows how quickly workforce priorities can change as major technology companies compete to build infrastructure for the next phase of AI growth.
