Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to discuss the preservation of Hyderabad’s historic heritage sites and the city’s future development. The meeting focused on balancing urban growth with the protection of important cultural and architectural landmarks.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V became the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims in 2025. His meeting with the Telangana Chief Minister comes as the state government continues to focus on major development and urban renewal projects in Hyderabad.
During the meeting, discussions included the rejuvenation of the Musi River and efforts to preserve heritage structures located across the city. Revanth Reddy acknowledged the contribution of the Aga Khan Foundation towards the restoration and conservation of Hyderabad’s historic sites.
The Qutb Shahi Tombs were among the major heritage projects discussed. The Aga Khan Foundation has played an important role in the restoration of the historic tomb complex. The Legislative Council building was also highlighted during the discussions.
The Telangana government also sought support for the restoration and preservation of other important heritage structures, including City College and Osmania General Hospital. These buildings are considered significant parts of Hyderabad’s architectural and cultural history.
The meeting also touched upon Telangana’s broader development plans. Revanth Reddy invited Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to attend the Telangana Rising Global Summit scheduled to be held in December.
The summit is expected to bring together investors, business leaders and other stakeholders as Telangana seeks to attract new investments and promote its development plans. The government is also positioning Bharat Future City as a major part of its long-term vision for the state.
Bharat Future City is being developed as a planned urban centre with a focus on sustainable and future-ready growth. The government has presented the project as part of its efforts to build a net-zero development model.
The meeting between Revanth Reddy and Prince Rahim Aga Khan V therefore brought together two important areas of Telangana’s development strategy — heritage conservation and modern urban growth. The state government is seeking to preserve Hyderabad’s historic identity while also preparing the city for future expansion.
