Chief Minister Vijay Inaugurates Aavin Laboratory Building in Madhavaram

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated a new laboratory building at the Aavin Central Laboratory in Madhavaram on Tuesday. The new facility was built at a cost of ₹2.23 crore and is expected to strengthen quality testing at the dairy facility.

Aavin Central Laboratory plays an important role in testing milk and dairy products supplied through the state-run Aavin network. The Madhavaram facility currently handles around 4 lakh to 4.5 lakh litres of milk every day.

The new laboratory is expected to improve testing facilities and support quality checks as Aavin continues to handle large volumes of milk. Laboratory testing is important for checking the quality and safety of milk before it reaches consumers.

During his visit, Chief Minister Vijay also reviewed the progress of a larger new dairy facility that is currently under construction in Madhavaram. The project is part of efforts to increase Aavin’s processing capacity.

The visit comes amid public discussions about milk availability and supply in Tamil Nadu. Aavin has been working to strengthen procurement, processing and distribution as demand for milk and dairy products continues to grow.

The state government has also taken steps to support milk producers. Recent measures include efforts to improve the price paid to farmers for milk and strengthen the overall dairy supply chain.

The expansion of Aavin’s infrastructure is expected to support both dairy farmers and consumers. Increased processing capacity can help the state handle higher milk procurement and improve distribution across different parts of Tamil Nadu.

The Madhavaram projects are also significant because the area is home to major Aavin facilities. The new laboratory and upcoming dairy infrastructure are expected to play a role in the state’s wider plans for modernising its dairy operations.

Chief Minister Vijay’s visit included an inspection of the ongoing construction work and a review of the project’s progress. Officials briefed him on the facilities and the work being carried out at the site.

The government is expected to continue focusing on milk procurement, processing capacity and quality control as part of its efforts to strengthen Aavin. The new laboratory is another step in expanding the infrastructure supporting Tamil Nadu’s public dairy network.
