The ruling NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh has finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for elections across 123 urban local bodies. The elections are expected to take place in late October. Under the agreement, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will contest 89 seats, Jana Sena Party will get 25, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest nine.
Jana Sena has also secured mayoral posts in Vijayawada and Kakinada as part of the agreement. Party leaders have described the outcome as a positive result of negotiations with the TDP, the alliance’s dominant partner. They believe the arrangement gives Jana Sena an opportunity to strengthen its position in key areas.
However, the seat-sharing deal has triggered mixed reactions among Jana Sena supporters. Some fans have expressed disappointment over the number of seats allocated to the party. Others have defended the agreement, calling it a practical decision in coalition politics.
Supporters backing the deal have urged party members to remain united ahead of nominations and polling. The agreement highlights the challenges alliance partners face while dividing seats and balancing their political interests.
The final arrangement will shape how the three parties prepare for the upcoming urban local body elections across Andhra Pradesh.
