Mysuru has become a major attraction during this year’s Dasara celebrations, with dazzling lights and a record-breaking drone show drawing visitors to the city. The festival, being held from October 11 to 21, has transformed Mysuru into a colourful display of royal heritage and modern technology.
On October 18, a drone show at Bannimantap reportedly set a Guinness World Record for the largest aerial bird display. The highlight was a giant peacock formed by drones in the night sky. The show added a new attraction to the annual festival and helped increase visitor numbers.
The city has also illuminated 146 kilometres of roads and 123 traffic circles with millions of lights. The decorations have created a festive atmosphere across Mysuru, blending its royal history with modern lighting displays.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar travelled on an open-top bus to view the illuminated streets. He also announced awards for the 100 best social media reels created during the celebrations, encouraging visitors to share their Dasara experiences online.
The celebrations are now heading towards two major events scheduled for October 21: the Torchlight Parade and the Jumboo Savari procession. These traditional events are among the most anticipated parts of Mysuru Dasara and are expected to draw large crowds.
The combination of grand illuminations, cultural traditions and the drone spectacle has added a modern attraction to one of Karnataka’s best-known festivals. Visitors are expected to continue arriving as the celebrations reach their final days.
