Chainsaw Attack on Schoolgirl Shocks Andhra Pradesh

A Class 10 student was critically injured in a brutal chainsaw attack at Raptadu Zilla Parishad High School in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district. The accused, identified as Hemanth alias Dummu, is reportedly a distant relative of the victim, Gopika Lakshmi.

According to the available report, the accused attacked Gopika after she allegedly rejected his advances and threatened to inform her parents. The attack nearly severed her right arm. Another student, Lakshmi, also suffered leg injuries while trying to help her friend.

Both girls were rushed to hospital for treatment. Gopika remains in critical condition, according to the report.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu condemned the attack and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured student. He also called for swift justice in the case.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised the state government, blaming the incident on failures in law and order.

The attack has raised serious concerns about student safety and security at schools. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and take steps to strengthen safety measures.
