
Kochi, June 18: Mohanlal’s upcoming thriller Drishyam 3 has run into legal trouble before its release. The Madras High Court has reportedly stopped the OTT release of the film’s Telugu-dubbed version for now. Rajkumar Theatres filed the petition. The company was involved in the Telugu remakes of the first two Drishyam films.
Why Is There a Dispute?
Rajkumar Theatres says a Telugu-dubbed OTT release could affect the value of future remake rights. The company believes viewers may lose interest in a separate Telugu remake if they can already watch the dubbed version online. The court accepted the request and issued an interim order. As a result, the Telugu OTT release is now on hold.

Jeethu Joseph directs Drishyam 3, while Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty The story follows a family man who protects his family after a crime changes their lives. The first Drishyam released in 2013 and became a huge hit. It later inspired remakes in several Indian languages. Drishyam 2, released in 2021, also won praise from critics and audiences.
Venkatesh and the Telugu Remakes
Actor Venkatesh played the lead role in the Telugu versions of Drishyam and Drishyam 2. Both films performed well at the box office. They also gained a strong fan following in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Many fans expected the makers to produce a Telugu version of Drishyam 3 as well.
What Happens Next?
The court order affects only the Telugu-dubbed OTT version. The Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 faces no restriction at this stage. The court will hear the case again before making a final decision.
