The Karnataka Cabinet has approved an ₹8 per litre increase in Nandini toned milk prices, with the revised rates set to take effect from November 1, according to reports. The price will rise from ₹46 to ₹54 per litre, increasing the cost for households, hotels and restaurants across the state.
Under the revised pricing arrangement, ₹7 from the increase will go directly to dairy farmers, while the remaining ₹1 will go to milk unions. The decision follows demands for higher milk prices amid rising costs of cattle feed, medicines, transportation and other dairy-related expenses.
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), which markets Nandini dairy products, supports nearly 10 lakh farmer families through its network. The price revision is expected to provide additional income to dairy farmers and help address increasing production costs.
The decision had reportedly been delayed until the conclusion of elections on October 27. With the new rates scheduled to begin on November 1, consumers and businesses that depend on milk and dairy products may face higher expenses.
The increase could also affect the prices of products such as curd and other milk-based items, depending on any separate revisions announced by the federation. Consumers are advised to check official Nandini price lists for the updated rates.
