The Modi schoolmate Vohra land dispute has drawn national attention after Asgarali Vohra, who studied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at BN School in Vadnagar, Gujarat, met Modi on September 8, 2026, to seek his intervention. Vohra alleges that builders linked to BJP MLA Narendra Mehta used forged documents to seize his land in Mira-Bhayandar, Maharashtra.
The Land at the Centre of the Dispute
Vohra says he purchased around 2,810 square metres of land on Navghar Road in Bhayandar East through a registered agreement in 1989, and has never sold or transferred it since. The plot was originally recorded as Survey No. 240 and is now listed as Survey No. 185, Hissa No. 6.
Allegations of Forged Documents
Vohra claims that in 2011, forged documents were created in collusion with Swayam Builders, splitting his land into two portions without his knowledge. One portion was allegedly shown under Swayam Builders’ possession, while the other was linked to Seven Eleven Constructions, a firm associated with BJP MLA Narendra Mehta. He has also questioned how the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation’s Town Planning Department approved construction on the disputed land despite his ownership claim.
Years of Pursuing Justice
An FIR over the alleged forgery was filed in 2015, but the case has remained in court for over a decade. Vohra claims the CID report in the matter was only submitted in 2026, nearly 11 years after the FIR. He also alleges a counter-case was filed against him in 2025 without prior notice, and has questioned whether political influence affected how the dispute was handled.
After years of unsuccessful attempts through police, revenue authorities, and the municipal corporation, Vohra took his case directly to Modi, requesting a CBI investigation into the builders and any officials involved. Following the meeting, municipal authorities took note of the matter, and a hearing has been scheduled for September 16, with representatives from Seven Eleven Constructions and Swayam Builders directed to appear.
