Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde appealed to residents to avoid low-lying areas, especially during high tide.

Residents have also called for long-term solutions to reduce flooding during every monsoon season.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more heavy rainfall in Mumbai through July 6.
