Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the winners of the National Teachers’ Awards at his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg ahead of Teachers’ Day. The meeting brought together award-winning educators from 27 states and seven Union Territories, highlighting the important role teachers play in shaping students and contributing to the country’s development.
The group included 48 school teachers, 21 higher education faculty members and 13 skill trainers. During the interaction, the educators discussed several topics related to education, including the importance of learning in the mother tongue, educational tours, reducing screen time among students and ways to build confidence among young learners.
Prime Minister Modi encouraged the teachers to share successful teaching methods and best practices with others. He also stressed the importance of promoting sports and creating a balanced learning environment for students. The interaction provided an opportunity for the award winners to share their experiences and ideas on improving education across the country.
The meeting was held on the eve of Teachers’ Day, which is celebrated every year on September 5 to mark the birth anniversary of former President and educationist Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. Teachers’ Day is observed across India to recognise the contribution of teachers and their role in guiding future generations.
Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi also met the award-winning teachers and praised their contribution to India’s development. He highlighted the important role of educators in helping build a stronger India as the country works towards the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to present the National Teachers’ Awards to the winners at Vigyan Bhavan. The awards recognise educators for their outstanding contribution to teaching, innovation and the development of students.
