Nice, France, June 14, 2026 — India and France have announced a broad set of agreements and initiatives covering artificial intelligence, innovation, trade, railways, space cooperation, education, and strategic security during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France.

India France Agreements 2026 Focus on Innovation and Artificial Intelligence
One of the key outcomes of the visit was the adoption of the India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030. The roadmap aims to deepen collaboration in technology, innovation, research, and education.
Both countries also agreed to establish a Joint India-France AI Working Group focused on artificial intelligence governance and emerging technology cooperation.
Additional initiatives include:
- Creation of a Centre of Digital Sciences between India’s Department of Science and Technology and France’s INRIA.

Boost for Trade, Investment and Economic Security
The India France Agreements 2026 also place a strong emphasis on economic cooperation.
India and France agreed to establish a high-level mechanism aimed at doubling bilateral trade within the next five years. The initiative will build upon existing economic and financial dialogue mechanisms.
The two countries also announced:
- An Economic Security Dialogue.
- Expanded possibilities for using India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in France.
- Enhanced cooperation on investment and supply-chain resilience.

Major Push for Skilling and Infrastructure
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish a National Centre of Excellence for Skilling in Aeronautics and Allied Sectors at NSTI Kanpur.
The agreement aims to support workforce development in aviation and advanced manufacturing sectors.
India and France also signed a Declaration of Intent on cooperation in railway and high-speed railway development, potentially opening new avenues for collaboration in transportation infrastructure.
Strategic and Space Cooperation Expanded
Strategic cooperation formed another important pillar of the visit.
The two countries signed a General Security Agreement on the Exchange and Protection of Classified Information, strengthening cooperation in sensitive strategic areas.
India’s space agency, Indian Space Research Organisation, and France’s CNES also signed a Letter of Intent to expand cooperation in microgravity research and human spaceflight activities.
Additionally, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and France’s Health Data Hub signed a Letter of Intent focused on health data collaboration and research.
