OPS Extended his Support to MK Stalin ahead of upcoming Tamilnadu assembly elections

Chennai, February 20, 2026: In a significant political development from Tamil Nadu, former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam (OPS) met Chief Minister M. K. Stalin in the State Assembly and publicly extended his support to him ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

OPS, who previously served as Chief Minister and remains an influential political figure in Tamil Nadu politics, praised the five-year tenure of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government under Stalin’s leadership. He stated that the people of Tamil Nadu continue to have faith in the DMK’s governance model and expressed confidence that the party would return to power in the upcoming elections.

The development assumes political significance as Tamil Nadu moves closer to the electoral season. OPS’s statement is likely to trigger intense political reactions, especially within opposition ranks, given his longstanding association with rival political formations in the state.

While there has been no formal announcement of any alliance framework yet, his public endorsement of Stalin inside the Assembly signals a possible political realignment in Tamil Nadu’s evolving political landscape.

The coming days are expected to witness sharper reactions from various parties, as this meeting could potentially reshape pre-election equations in the state.

More details awaited.
