Tamil Nadu Anti-Corruption Raids Target 60 Sub-Registrar Offices Across the State

By South Matters Political Desk | Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu Anti-Corruption Raids intensified on Thursday as the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted surprise inspections at around 60 sub-registrar offices across the state.

The operation covered several major locations, including Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Ooty and other high-traffic registration centers. Officials launched the inspections following repeated complaints regarding alleged bribery and irregularities in property registration services.

Massive Statewide Operation

The Tamil Nadu Anti-Corruption Raids involved nearly 320 vigilance personnel who carried out simultaneous checks during peak working hours.

Authorities focused on offices that regularly witness large public footfalls. The inspections aimed to identify irregular practices and ensure transparency in the registration process.

Officials visited key offices in Chennai, including Alandur and Virugambakkam, while teams were also deployed in multiple districts across Tamil Nadu.

Action Under New Vigilance Leadership

The raids came just days after senior IPS officer A. Arun assumed charge as Director of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

The operation is being viewed as one of the first major anti-corruption initiatives under the administration of C. Joseph Vijay.

Government sources indicated that the inspections are part of a broader effort to improve governance and public service delivery.

Public Reaction and Social Media Buzz

The raids quickly became a major talking point on social media.

Supporters of the government praised the move and described it as a strong message against corruption. Many users referred to the operation as “Vaathi Raids,” drawing comparisons to Vijay’s popular on-screen anti-corruption roles.

At the same time, some citizens expressed cautious optimism and urged authorities to ensure that the inspections lead to long-term reforms rather than one-time action.

Focus on Transparency

Property registration offices often face allegations of unofficial payments for faster processing and approvals.

Through the Tamil Nadu Anti-Corruption Raids, authorities aim to improve transparency, strengthen accountability and restore public confidence in government services.

Officials have not yet announced details of any seizures or disciplinary actions arising from the inspections.

What Happens Next?

The findings from the inspections are expected to be reviewed by vigilance authorities in the coming days.

If irregularities are detected, officials may initiate departmental action or further investigations against those involved.

The operation signals a strong anti-corruption stance and could mark the beginning of a wider administrative cleanup drive across Tamil Nadu.
