Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced Free Zoo Entry Tamil Nadu for visitors on June 21 and 22 as part of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s 52nd birthday celebrations.
The initiative will allow people to visit some of the state’s major zoological parks without paying an entry fee. The government hopes the programme will encourage families, students, and wildlife enthusiasts to learn more about nature and animal conservation.
Free Zoo Entry Tamil Nadu on June 21 and 22
Forest Minister R.V. Ranjith Kumar said visitors can enjoy free entry to major zoos across Tamil Nadu on both days.The offer includes access to the famous Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur near Chennai and the Kurumbapatti Zoological Park in Salem. Thousands of visitors are expected to take advantage of the special arrangement. However, visitors must complete online registration in advance to receive their free entry tickets.
Special Arrangements for Visitors
The Forest Department has made special arrangements to handle the expected rush. Officials have deployed additional staff, security personnel, and visitor support teams at the zoological parks. These measures will help ensure a smooth experience for visitors.The zoos will remain open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Authorities will allow entry until 4:30 PM.
Promoting Wildlife Awareness
The government launched the initiative not only to celebrate the Chief Minister’s birthday but also to promote wildlife awareness among the public. Officials will conduct educational activities and awareness programmes at selected facilities. These events will help visitors understand biodiversity, wildlife protection, and environmental conservation. Students and young visitors will also get an opportunity to learn about different animal species and conservation efforts.
Massive Plantation Drive Planned
In addition to the free-entry programme, the Forest Department will conduct a large plantation drive in Kancheepuram district on June 22.
Officials plan to plant 52,000 saplings to mark Chief Minister Vijay’s 52nd birthday. The initiative aims to strengthen green cover and support environmental sustainability across the state.
