Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has conducted searches at 19 locations linked to former DMK minister K.N. Nehru, his brother Ravichandran and their associates. The searches were carried out across Trichy, Chennai and other locations as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities during Nehru’s tenure as Minister for Municipal Administration.
The investigation reportedly covers allegations linked to government contracts and an alleged cash-for-jobs scheme. The case involves claims of irregularities worth around ₹888 crore in the alleged cash-for-jobs matter and questionable contracts estimated at around ₹1,020 crore.
The FIR in the case was registered following directions from the Madras High Court. The investigation is focused on allegations connected to decisions and activities during Nehru’s time in the Municipal Administration department. The searches are part of the agency’s ongoing investigation and do not by themselves establish guilt against the accused.
Following news of the raids, DMK cadres gathered outside Nehru’s residence in Thillai Nagar, Trichy. Party supporters assembled at the location as the vigilance officials carried out their searches, highlighting the political sensitivity surrounding the investigation.
K.N. Nehru is a senior DMK leader and has held important positions in the Tamil Nadu government. The latest searches have created fresh political attention around the former minister and the DMK, with the allegations likely to become a major point of discussion in the state’s political arena.
