Union Minister of State L. Murugan has announced his intention to return to grassroots politics and focus full-time on strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. In a post on social media, Murugan described serving the country and Tamil Nadu under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as the greatest honour of his life.
Reflecting on his journey, Murugan highlighted his background as the son of daily wage labourers and described his appointment to the Union Council of Ministers as a major privilege. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at the national level and said he now wanted to work more closely with party workers on the ground.
Murugan said his next priority would be to stand with BJP karyakartas and strengthen the party’s organisation across Tamil Nadu. His stated focus comes as political parties prepare for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. His announcement signals an emphasis on grassroots engagement and party-building in the state.
He ended his message with the slogan, “Nation First. Party Next. Self Last,” underscoring the priorities he says will guide his political work.
