Tamil Nadu Power Cut Today: Supply Affected in Several Districts

Several districts in Tamil Nadu are experiencing temporary power interruptions today, October 7, because of electricity maintenance work. The shutdowns are being carried out by the Tamil Nadu power distribution authorities.

The affected areas include parts of Chennai, Villupuram, Coimbatore, Thoothukudi, Pudukkottai, Dharmapuri, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Theni, Ranipet and Vellore.

The power interruptions are mainly linked to monthly maintenance and emergency works. Supply is expected to resume after the completion of the scheduled work in each area.

In some locations, the shutdown begins at around 9 am. Thoothukudi’s SIPCOT area has a separate schedule that starts earlier. The exact duration varies from one locality to another.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements in advance. Households and businesses that depend on electricity for essential activities may need to plan their work around the scheduled shutdown.

Electricity maintenance is regularly carried out to improve the safety and reliability of the distribution network. Such work can include inspections, repairs and maintenance of transformers, feeders and other equipment.

People are also advised to avoid relying on unofficial lists because shutdown timings can change depending on local conditions. Consumers should check updates from the electricity department for their specific locality.

The latest shutdown schedule is particularly important for businesses, schools, hospitals and households using electrical equipment throughout the day.

Authorities are expected to restore power once the maintenance work is completed. Consumers facing extended interruptions can contact the local electricity service centre for updates.
