Chennai, June 13: The long-awaited Thanjavur Domestic Airport project has moved a step closer to reality, with the land required for the airport already handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) by the previous Tamil Nadu government.
Officials are now awaiting in-principle approval from the Airports Authority of India before work on the project can formally begin.
The proposed airport is expected to improve regional connectivity in the Cauvery Delta region and boost tourism, business, and economic activity in and around Thanjavur.
Thanjavur Domestic Airport Project Awaits Final Clearance
According to project details, the proposed Thanjavur Domestic Airport is estimated to cost around ₹100 crore.
Furthermore, authorities plan to construct a dedicated passenger terminal building as part of the project. Once operational, the airport is expected to handle approximately 300 passengers per day.
