The Andhra Pradesh Fuel Shortage has triggered concern across the state as panic buying caused a sharp rise in fuel demand. As a result, at least 421 out of 4,510 fuel outlets have temporarily shut down.
Fuel sales increased rapidly. Petrol consumption jumped from 6,330 kiloliters per day to 10,345 KL, while diesel demand rose from 9,048 KL to 14,156 KL in a short time.
Panic Buying Drives Demand Surge
The Andhra Pradesh Fuel Shortage mainly stems from panic buying by the public. Many people rushed to fuel stations fearing supply disruptions. Consequently, daily sales surged by over 50%.
Because of this sudden spike, several fuel stations ran out of stock and had to close temporarily.
Government Reviews Situation
In response, N. Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting via video conference. He directed officials to increase fuel supplies and restore normal distribution quickly.
Moreover, the government aims to stabilize the situation by Monday and prevent further disruptions.
No Actual Shortage, Says Minister
Meanwhile, Nadendla Manohar clarified that there is no real statewide shortage. Instead, he blamed panic buying, hoarding, and supply chain glitches.
He also urged the public to stay calm and avoid unnecessary bulk purchases.
Fuel Dealers Blame Supply Gaps
On the other hand, fuel dealers have raised concerns about irregular supply. According to them, oil companies are delivering fuel every two days instead of daily.
As a result, transport services and farming activities have started facing disruptions in some areas.
Helpline and Public Advisory
To manage the situation, the state government has asked citizens to report issues through the toll-free number 196. At the same time, officials continue efforts to normalize fuel availability across Andhra Pradesh.
