Revanth Reddy Pulls Up Officials Over Hyderabad Rain Disruptions

Hyderabad, June 14, 2026 — Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed strong displeasure over the handling of rain-related disruptions in Hyderabad after intense pre-monsoon showers caused waterlogging, traffic congestion, and fallen trees across several parts of the city.

The Revanth Reddy Hyderabad Rain Review comes after heavy rainfall affected daily life in multiple localities, raising concerns about preparedness ahead of the monsoon season.

Revanth Reddy Hyderabad Rain Review Highlights Coordination Failures

During a review meeting with senior officials, Revanth Reddy reportedly questioned the lack of coordination between municipal authorities, traffic police, and other departments responsible for managing rain-related emergencies.

The Chief Minister noted that warnings regarding monsoon preparedness had already been issued on June 1. Despite those instructions, several areas witnessed severe traffic disruptions and water accumulation following the latest spell of rain.

Officials were directed to improve coordination mechanisms and ensure quicker responses during adverse weather conditions.

Heavy Rainfall Causes Waterlogging Across Hyderabad

Several parts of Hyderabad received significant rainfall, with some localities recording up to 53 mm of precipitation.

Areas including Miyapur, Banjara Hills, and other major zones experienced waterlogging, while fallen trees affected traffic movement during peak evening hours. Commuters faced delays as authorities worked to clear roads and restore normal movement.

The rainfall offered relief from rising temperatures but also exposed weaknesses in urban drainage management and emergency response systems.

Revanth Reddy Orders Stronger Monsoon Preparedness

As part of the Revanth Reddy Hyderabad Rain Review, officials were instructed to make proactive use of waterlogging data and deploy resources in vulnerable locations before heavy rainfall events occur.

The Chief Minister also directed traffic personnel to remain on roads during rain events to ensure smooth vehicle movement and minimize congestion.

Strict action was reportedly ordered against officials who fail to perform assigned duties during emergency situations. Departments were asked to maintain full preparedness throughout the monsoon season.

Focus on Public Safety and Essential Services

The Telangana government has also directed departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply, drinking water availability, and public health preparedness during the monsoon period.

Officials were instructed to take preventive measures against waterborne diseases and ensure that drainage systems function effectively during heavy rainfall.

With the southwest monsoon expected to advance further, the government aims to minimize disruptions and improve response mechanisms across Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
