PM Modi Calls for Trust-Based Global Partnerships at G7 Summit in France

Evian, France, June 16, 2026:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for rebuilding global trust and strengthening international cooperation while addressing a session on “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity” at the G7 Summit in Evian, France.

Speaking before world leaders, Modi emphasized that trust has become the most valuable strategic asset in an increasingly interconnected world and urged nations to work together to address global challenges through dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation.

PM Modi Highlights Importance of Trust

Addressing the summit hosted by Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Modi said that energy security, food security, health security, cyber security, and economic prosperity can no longer be viewed within national borders alone.

He stated that modern economies are interconnected through technology, data, capital, mobility, and supply chains, making international partnerships more important than ever.

According to Modi, successful partnerships can only be built on mutual trust, transparency, and shared responsibility.

Calls for a Trusted Rules-Based Global Order

The Prime Minister noted that the world is facing a growing shortage of trust rather than a shortage of resources.

He stressed the need to create a trusted rules-based international order suited to the challenges of the modern era. Modi said technology and global supply chains should be used for the collective good rather than as instruments of strategic competition.

He also called for global institutions to become more representative and responsive to the aspirations of all nations.

India’s Global Initiatives Highlighted

During his address, Modi highlighted several international initiatives led by India, including:

  • International Solar Alliance
  • Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure
  • Global Biofuels Alliance
  • Mission LiFE
  • Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

He said these initiatives reflect India’s commitment to sustainable development and collective global progress.

Global South Seeks Partnership, Not Dependency

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that countries of the Global South do not seek assistance alone but aspire to become equal partners in global development.

He urged the international community to move beyond traditional donor-recipient frameworks and embrace partnerships based on dignity, equality, and shared growth.

According to Modi, empowering nations to build their own capacities is the true measure of successful international cooperation.

Calls for Peace Through Dialogue and Diplomacy

The Prime Minister also addressed ongoing global conflicts and tensions, stressing that lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, diplomacy, and international cooperation.

He welcomed progress in peace efforts in West Asia and highlighted the impact of regional conflicts on global trade, maritime security, and economic stability.

Modi emphasized the importance of keeping maritime routes secure and ensuring the safety of seafarers who play a critical role in global commerce.

India Ready to Work with Global Partners

Concluding his remarks, Modi reaffirmed India’s readiness to work closely with international partners to address common challenges and build a more inclusive, sustainable, and trusted global order.

The speech reinforced India’s growing role in global affairs and its continued focus on cooperation, development, and multilateral engagement.
