Visakhapatnam, June 23: Two workers lost their lives after a major fire broke out at Dakshin Energy, a plastic pyrolysis oil manufacturing unit located in Parawada Pharma City of Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district on Tuesday morning.
The victims were identified as Vepada Venkatesh and Trinath, both residents of Atchutapuram.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when a storage tank exploded during the process of converting plastic waste into oil at the company’s facility in JNBC Industrial Park near Pharma City. The explosion triggered a massive fire, and the flames quickly spread across the plant.
Several workers were present at the facility when the incident happened. Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations to bring the blaze under control. Police officials and district authorities also reached the site and began rescue and relief efforts.
Parawada Circle Inspector Bhaskar Rao confirmed that two workers died in the incident. He stated that no other injuries had been reported at the time of filing this report.
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha expressed shock over the tragedy. She spoke with Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishnan and Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha to review the situation. The minister directed officials to speed up relief measures and ensure support for the families of the deceased.
She also said the government would examine the causes of the accident and take necessary steps to prevent similar incidents in industrial units across the state.Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
