Mallikarjun Kharge Takes Oath as Rajya Sabha MP After Re-Election

New Delhi, June 29: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha after winning re-election from Karnataka. Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath at Parliament House.

Kharge took the oath in Hindi while holding a copy of the Constitution. After the ceremony, Radhakrishnan congratulated him and said the Upper House would benefit from his long experience in public life.

Speaking after taking the oath, Kharge said he would continue to raise the concerns and aspirations of the people. He also said he would hold the government accountable in Parliament with sincerity and commitment. Kharge thanked the Congress leadership for its support. He expressed special gratitude to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, party MPs, workers and supporters for their continued trust in him.

He also thanked Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh for their support.

Several senior leaders attended the oath-taking ceremony. They included Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Deputy Chairman Harivansh.

Kharge said he looks forward to working closely with leaders of all opposition parties during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. He said the opposition would continue to work together to ensure accountability from the government.

Kharge represents Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha and also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House.
