Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has issued a final warning to employers ahead of the Saudi work permit renewal deadline. Companies must renew or update work permits before June 30. Those who miss the deadline could face legal action and financial penalties.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development asked employers to finish all pending renewals immediately. Officials said companies that fail to renew work permits may lose workers from their official records.
Saudi Work Permit Renewal Deadline Nears
The Saudi work permit renewal deadline is important for every company that employs foreign workers. The ministry said employers should not wait until the last moment. They should check every employee’s work permit and complete the renewal process on time.
The ministry also warned employers not to allow workers to continue working with expired permits. Doing so could lead to strict action under Saudi labour laws.
Iqama Validity Matters
The ministry explained that workers with an Iqama valid for at least 180 days will remain on company records for now.
If the Iqama has less than 180 days left, employers must renew both the Iqama and the work permit together. This step will help avoid legal and administrative problems.
Employers Must Pay the Fees
Saudi labour law makes employers responsible for work permit renewal fees and all related charges. Companies cannot ask workers to pay these costs.
Officials urged employers to complete the process before the deadline. Early action will help businesses avoid fines and other penalties.
Thousands Could Be Affected
The new deadline could affect thousands of expatriate workers and businesses across Saudi Arabia. Authorities want every company to follow labour rules and keep employment records up to date.
The ministry advised employers and sponsors to review all work permits today. Completing the renewal process before the deadline will help avoid legal issues and keep workers employed without interruption.
