HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police seized around 50 kg of suspected adulterated meat from a meat shop in Mallepally. Officials suspect the shop mixed beef with goat meat and sold it as mutton.
The H-FAST team and Habeebnagar police conducted a surprise raid on Wednesday. They acted after receiving specific information about the alleged food adulteration.
Police Find Suspected Adulterated Meat
Police inspected Osman Meat Shop near Badi Masjid in Mallepally. During the raid, they found meat that was allegedly mixed with beef and sold as goat meat.
Officials immediately seized the entire stock. They also collected meat samples and sent them to a laboratory for testing. The test report will confirm the type of meat.
Police Register Case
The Habeebnagar police registered a case against the shop owner, Osman Qureshi, based on the initial findings.
Police are now investigating the case. They want to know how long the alleged practice continued. They are also checking if anyone else was involved.
Investigation Is Underway
Officials said they will take further action after receiving the laboratory report.
The Hyderabad police continue to inspect meat shops across the city. Their aim is to stop food adulteration and protect public health.
