The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Telangana has been completed, with concerns emerging over nearly 73 lakh voters whose details have not yet been digitised. The state has a total of 3,38,26,448 registered voters, and electoral forms have reportedly been distributed to 100% of voters. However, only 2,64,30,494 forms have been digitised so far, leaving a large gap between the total number of voters and the data entered into the system.
Based on the digitised data, the draft electoral roll is scheduled to be released on August 17. Voters are advised to check the draft list carefully after its publication to make sure their names and details are correctly included.
If a voter’s name does not appear in the draft electoral roll, they will have another opportunity to submit an application and request inclusion in the voter list. The process is aimed at ensuring that eligible voters are not left out of the final electoral roll.
The large difference between the total number of voters and the forms digitised has raised concerns among voters and political groups in Telangana. The final electoral roll will depend on the verification and correction process that follows the publication of the draft list.
