INDIA Bloc Submits Memorandum to President Murmu, Alleges ‘Vote Chori’ in Elections

Leaders of the INDIA opposition bloc have submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu during a meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan, raising serious allegations of electoral irregularities in several elections across India. The memorandum claims that “Vote Chori” has taken place on a massive scale and calls for accountability from the Election Commission of India.

In the memorandum, the opposition leaders alleged that Assembly elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Delhi and West Bengal had been affected by electoral manipulation. They also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating electronic voting machines (EVMs) and electoral rolls in several other Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. These are allegations made by the opposition bloc and should not be treated as established findings.

The memorandum described the alleged irregularities as a serious threat to Indian democracy. It also accused the Chief Election Commissioner of misleading the Supreme Court of India. The claims and accusations in the memorandum would need to be assessed against available evidence and relevant official findings.

The opposition leaders stressed that the Right to Vote is a fundamental pillar of representative democracy. Referring to Article 326 of the Constitution, the memorandum argued that the Election Commission must protect the electoral process and remain accountable for its decisions.

“The Election Commission is its constitutional custodian, not its proprietor,” the memorandum stated, while arguing that the institution must answer to the Constitution rather than political interests.

The submission places electoral transparency and the credibility of voting procedures at the centre of the political debate. For voters, the key question is how allegations of electoral malpractice are examined and whether concerns are addressed through transparent, evidence-based processes.

The Election Commission and the courts play important roles in maintaining the integrity of elections and resolving disputes under the law. The claims made in the memorandum do not, by themselves, establish that the elections named were stolen or that EVMs and electoral rolls were manipulated.

The meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan is likely to draw further political attention as opposition leaders continue to demand accountability over electoral processes. The next developments will depend on the response to the memorandum and any further evidence or official statements concerning the allegations.
