Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in Vijayawada on Tuesday to discuss Krishna River water-sharing issues and proposed river-linking projects. The meeting focused on improving inter-state water management and addressing concerns over water supplies to Chennai. One of the key topics was the Telugu Ganga Project, which supplies Krishna River water to Tamil Nadu for Chennai’s drinking water needs. Tamil Nadu has reportedly received less water than its annual allocation under the project, raising concerns over the shortfall. The two states discussed the need to address these supply issues and ensure better coordination over water sharing. Another major topic was the proposed Godavari-Krishna-Cauvery river-linking initiative. The proposal aims to improve water distribution across parts of southern India, although its implementation involves several technical, financial and inter-state considerations. The discussions highlighted the importance of cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu on water-related matters. Any progress on the proposals will depend on further consultations, technical assessments and decisions by the concerned authorities. Details of any final agreements or specific commitments from the meeting have not yet been provided.
