Karnataka MLC Elections: BJP–JD(S) Alliance Wins All Four Seats

The BJP–JD(S) alliance has won all four Karnataka Legislative Council (MLC) seats, according to reports published on October 27, 2026. The results cover two graduates’ constituencies and two teachers’ constituencies, where the opposition alliance faced the ruling Congress.

The four constituencies are South-East Graduates’, West Graduates’, North-East Teachers’ and Bengaluru Teachers’. In Bengaluru Teachers’, JD(S) candidate A.P. Ranganath defeated Congress candidate Puttanna by 908 votes. Ranganath secured 10,810 votes, while Puttanna received 9,902 votes. The BJP also secured victories in the remaining three constituencies, according to local media reports.

Polling for the four seats took place on October 23. Voter turnout ranged from 73.58% to 86.97% across the constituencies, reflecting strong participation in the elections.

The results were closely watched as a contest between the Congress government and the BJP–JD(S) alliance. The outcome marks a setback for Congress in these Legislative Council constituencies and gives the opposition alliance a boost.

However, the results are limited to the four MLC seats and do not change the position of the Congress government in Karnataka.
