Andhra Pradesh Temple Assets: Temples Hold 1,834 Kg Gold and ₹2,763 Crore Deposit

Amaravati: Temples managed by the Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department, excluding the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), hold 1,834.703 kg of gold, 32,622 kg of silver articles, and ₹2,763.77 crore in fixed deposits, according to official data released by the State government.

The figures come from the newly launched Endowments Department dashboard, which provides details about temple assets, ornaments, revenues, and financial deposits.

According to the data, 981.028 kg of gold is in the form of ornaments used for deities, while 853.675 kg has been invested in gold bonds. The silver holdings include ornaments, ritual items, and ceremonial articles used during temple festivals and daily worship.

Temple Deposits Cross ₹2,700 Crore

The Endowments Department said temples invest surplus funds after meeting their daily expenses.

The total fixed deposits include:

  • ₹1,339.57 crore in surplus and corpus funds
  • ₹107.54 crore reserved for festivals and special events
  • ₹492.39 crore from land sale proceeds
  • ₹803.89 crore for the Annadanam (free meal) programme
  • ₹20.38 crore donated for cow protection initiatives

Temple Revenue Continues to Rise

The department also reported steady growth in temple income over the last three financial years. Temple revenue increased from ₹1,379.19 crore in 2023-24 to ₹1,466.80 crore in 2024-25. It reached ₹1,503.90 crore in 2025-26.

Officials said improved facilities, faster darshan, better-quality prasadam, and enhanced annaprasadam services helped increase temple income.

Over 27,000 Temples Under Endowments Department

The Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department currently manages 27,750 temples, charitable institutions, and monasteries across the State.

These include 203 Category 6A institutions, 457 Category 6B institutions, 26,953 Category 6C institutions, and 137 monasteries (mathas).

The government said the online dashboard improves transparency by providing easy access to information about temple assets and finances.
