Jammalamadugu, July 1: Heavy police deployment was seen outside the YSRCP office in Jammalamadugu after party leaders announced plans to visit the proposed steel plant site at Kanyatheertham.
According to police, YSRCP leaders were stopped from proceeding to the site due to law and order concerns.
The YSRCP had planned to visit the steel plant area at Kanyatheertham, where party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had earlier laid the foundation stone for the project.
On Tuesday, police served notices to YSRCP MLC P. Rama Subba Reddy, stating that permission had not been granted for the visit.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to visit Kanyatheertham on July 3 to launch the steel plant works. Alliance leaders and government officials are currently overseeing preparations for the Chief Minister’s visit.
Police said allowing both groups to gather at the same location could create law and order issues. As a result, YSRCP leaders heading towards the steel plant site were stopped by the police.
