Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has started a two-day visit to New Delhi to discuss major development projects and financial support for the state.
Naidu met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday. The meeting focused on the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub and funding arrangements for externally aided projects.
The Chief Minister also discussed the district-wise action plan for the Global Horticulture Hub. He thanked Sitharaman for attending the project’s inauguration and taking an interest in its implementation.
During his Delhi visit, Naidu is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers.
The Chief Minister is expected to seek approval and funding support for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project and the proposed Beach Corridor.
He is also expected to discuss the proposed Godavari-Cauvery river-linking plan and ways to use surplus Godavari floodwater for agriculture.
Another major issue on the agenda is financial assistance for Andhra Pradesh amid drought conditions linked to the rainfall deficit and El Niño.
Naidu is also scheduled to discuss support for the Godavari Pushkaralu scheduled for next year and progress on the Polavaram project.
The meetings are part of Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to secure central support for infrastructure, agriculture, irrigation and drought relief.
