Vijayawada, June 16, 2026:

Vijayawada International Airport has recorded remarkable growth over the past decade, with annual revenue increasing by more than 1,370%, according to the latest report from the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The airport’s revenue rose from ₹5.98 crore in 2014-15 to a record ₹87.97 crore in 2025-26, reflecting the rapid expansion of air connectivity and passenger demand in Andhra Pradesh.

Revenue Growth Highlights Airport Expansion

The significant increase in earnings underscores the transformation of Vijayawada International Airport into one of the fastest-growing aviation hubs in the region.

Airport officials attribute the growth to rising passenger traffic, improved infrastructure, expanded flight operations, and increasing demand for domestic and international travel.

Passenger Traffic Sees Massive Growth

Passenger traffic at the airport has also witnessed a sharp increase over the last decade.

According to AAI data, annual passenger numbers rose from 2.33 lakh in 2014-15 to more than 14.11 lakh passengers in 2025-26.

This growth reflects increasing economic activity, improved connectivity, and growing demand for air travel from Andhra Pradesh.

Infrastructure and Connectivity Driving Growth

Over the years, Vijayawada International Airport has expanded its services and connectivity, helping support business travel, tourism, and regional economic development.

The airport serves as a key gateway for Andhra Pradesh and plays an important role in connecting the state with major Indian cities and international destinations.

Boost for Andhra Pradesh’s Aviation Sector

The strong performance of Vijayawada International Airport highlights the broader growth of Andhra Pradesh’s aviation and infrastructure sectors.

Officials believe continued investments in airport infrastructure, route expansion, and passenger services will further strengthen Vijayawada’s position as a major aviation hub in South India.
