DELHI (JUNE 20): Actor Shahid Kapoor has expressed surprise over the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granting an ‘A’ certificate to Cocktail 2. The film, directed by Homi Adajania and starring Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon, released in theatres on Friday.
Speaking during the film’s promotions, Shahid said he could not understand why the movie received an adult rating. According to him, Cocktail 2 is a film that families can watch together. “I don’t see anything in this film that people would object to. It received an adult certificate, but I honestly don’t understand why,” Shahid said while interacting with fans on social media.
The actor stressed that the movie tells the emotional story of three individuals and does not contain content that would make it unsuitable for family audiences. Shahid also dismissed speculation about the film featuring a lesbian love story. He said the relationship between the three main characters is based on emotional connection rather than physical intimacy.
Actress Kriti Sanon had earlier made similar remarks, saying that the film focuses on emotions and relationships between the characters. Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 serves as a sequel to the 2012 hit film Cocktail. The screenplay was written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan, and Ankur Garg under the banners of Maddock Films and Luv Films.
Shahid said he hopes audiences leave theatres with a smile after watching the film.
