US Ambassador Gor Visits Lalbaugcha Raja During Ganesh Chaturthi

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor visited Mumbai’s famous Lalbaugcha Raja pandal on September 14 and joined devotees during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The visit came as thousands of people gathered at the popular pandal to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha during the 10-day festival.

Ambassador Gor offered prayers at Lalbaugcha Raja and witnessed the strong devotion and community spirit surrounding the celebrations. He later shared his experience on X, expressing his happiness at being part of the festival and describing the atmosphere as difficult to put into words.

Speaking to ANI, Gor said he was honoured to accept the invitation and join devotees for darshan. The area was filled with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” as large crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the idol.

Lalbaugcha Raja is one of Mumbai’s most well-known Ganesh festival celebrations and attracts devotees from across Maharashtra and other parts of India. The festival is known for its grand decorations, cultural celebrations and large-scale public participation.

The Ambassador’s visit added an international presence to the celebrations and highlighted the cultural importance of Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai. His participation also reflected the wider interest in India’s festivals and traditions among international visitors and diplomats.

However, the huge crowds at Lalbaugcha Raja also continue to create challenges for ordinary visitors. Long queues, heavy movement of devotees and security arrangements are common during the festival, particularly at peak hours.

Despite the crowd-related difficulties, the celebrations remain one of Mumbai’s biggest annual religious and cultural events. The visit by Ambassador Gor brought further attention to Lalbaugcha Raja as devotees continued to gather for darshan and participate in the festive atmosphere.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations across Mumbai will continue through the 10-day festival, with Lalbaugcha Raja remaining one of the major attractions for devotees and visitors.
