CM Vijay Urges PM Modi To Reject Mekedatu Dam Approvals

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern over an alleged site inspection by Union government officials linked to the proposed Mekedatu dam project.

In his letter on Saturday, Vijay urged the Prime Minister not to grant any statutory or administrative approvals for the project without the consent of the co-basin states.

The Chief Minister’s concerns come amid the ongoing dispute over the proposed Mekedatu dam across the Cauvery River. Tamil Nadu has consistently raised concerns over the project’s possible impact on its water interests.

Vijay’s letter seeks to ensure that the interests of all states sharing the river basin are considered before any approval is granted. Further developments are expected following the Tamil Nadu government’s communication with the Centre.
