Vijay Criticises DMK and MK Stalin Over Remarks on TVK Candidate Sathyabama

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay strongly criticised the DMK and MK Stalin over remarks made about TVK’s Dharapuram bypoll candidate P Sathyabama. During his roadshow in Dharapuram, Vijay said he could accept personal criticism against him. However, he warned that he would not stay silent when women face personal attacks or insults. Vijay said political criticism should remain within limits. He said leaders should not make personal remarks about mothers, sisters and daughters. He also accused MK Stalin of making vulgar and unacceptable comments about Sathyabama. According to Vijay, such remarks have no place in healthy political debate. He further alleged that some other DMK leaders were also using similar language against women. Vijay made the remarks while campaigning for Sathyabama ahead of the Dharapuram bypoll. The TVK candidate is contesting the October 6 election. The issue has added to the political debate in Tamil Nadu ahead of the bypoll. Vijay’s comments also put the focus on the language used by political leaders during election campaigns. The DMK and its leaders are facing criticism from TVK over the alleged remarks, while the political contest in Dharapuram continues to intensify.
