Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reviewed the progress of the Musi Riverfront Project on Friday. The meeting focused on land acquisition, rehabilitation of affected families and the implementation of Phase 1 of the ambitious river rejuvenation project.
The review meeting took place at the MCR HRD Bodhi Pavilion in Jubilee Hills. Senior ministers and top government officials attended the meeting.
Double-Bedroom Houses for Families
The government decided to provide double-bedroom houses to families currently living in the Musi riverbed as part of the rehabilitation plan.
Officials discussed measures to relocate affected families while ensuring proper housing and support during the rehabilitation process.
Land Owners to Get TDR or Compensation
The government also reviewed land acquisition issues under the Musi Riverfront Project.
Officials decided to offer Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) to landowners who voluntarily give up their land. Alternatively, eligible landowners can choose to receive cash compensation.
The meeting also approved the relocation of structures on defence land required for the Gandhi Sarovar Project.
Musi Experience Centre Planned
The government plans to establish a Musi Experience Centre at Necklace Road.
The centre will showcase the proposed development works under the Musi Riverfront Project. It will also allow visitors to learn about the project and share their suggestions and feedback.
Project Aims to Transform Musi River
The ₹7,055-crore Musi Riverfront Project aims to restore and rejuvenate a 55-km stretch of the Musi River in Hyderabad. The project focuses on improving the river’s ecosystem, strengthening flood management and creating public spaces along the riverbanks.The first phase covers a five-kilometre stretch within the 21-km section between Himayat Sagar and Bapu Ghat.
Defence Approval Boosts Project
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy thanked Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Indian Army for permitting the Telangana government to proceed with the Gandhi Sarovar Project at Bapu Ghat.
He described the approval as an important step towards the complete rejuvenation of the Musi River and the creation of a modern riverfront for Hyderabad.
