New Delhi, June 11: The Revanth Reddy PM Meeting has brought several key Telangana projects into focus, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention on Godavari water sharing, Hyderabad Metro Phase-II, and the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
The meeting comes days after Revanth Reddy strongly criticized Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over delays in discussions related to the Tummidihatti project. However, during his interaction with the Prime Minister, the Telangana Chief Minister adopted a more conciliatory approach and requested the Centre’s support in facilitating talks between Telangana and Maharashtra.
Furthermore, Revanth Reddy emphasized that access to Godavari waters remains crucial for Telangana’s future irrigation and drinking water needs.
Revanth Reddy PM Meeting Highlights Godavari Water Issue
The Revanth Reddy PM Meeting prominently featured discussions on the sharing of Godavari river waters.
According to the Chief Minister, Telangana requires long-term water security to support agriculture, irrigation projects, and drinking water schemes. Therefore, he urged Prime Minister Modi to help initiate constructive discussions with Maharashtra regarding water utilization.
The request follows recent tensions between the two states over the Tummidihatti project and related water-sharing concerns.
Hyderabad Metro Phase-II Receives Fresh Push
During the Revanth Reddy PM Meeting, the Chief Minister also sought approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project.
He informed the Prime Minister that proposals worth approximately ₹38,595 crore have already been submitted for expanding metro connectivity across 122.9 kilometres through seven corridors.
Additionally, Revanth Reddy requested that the Metro Phase-II project be approved as a joint venture between the Centre and the Telangana government.
Revanth Reddy PM Meeting Raises Regional Ring Road Demand
The Regional Ring Road project was another major topic discussed during the meeting.
The Chief Minister urged the Centre to expedite approvals for both the northern and southern sections of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road. Moreover, he pointed out that the Telangana government has already agreed to bear 50 percent of land acquisition costs for the northern corridor.
According to officials, the southern section connecting Choutuppal and Sangareddy will significantly improve regional connectivity and support Hyderabad’s future expansion.
Telangana Seeks Support for Development Projects
Apart from water-sharing and transport infrastructure, Revanth Reddy also discussed several other development initiatives concerning Telangana.
Meanwhile, political observers noted that the Revanth Reddy PM Meeting reflected a pragmatic approach aimed at securing central support for major projects. Supporters believe cooperation between the state and central governments will be essential for accelerating infrastructure development.
