Kamareddy: A 25-year-old student from Telangana died under suspicious circumstances in the United Kingdom, leaving his family and the Telugu community in deep shock. The incident happened on June 23, and UK police have started an investigation.
The student, Savusani Srinath Reddy, belonged to Talamadla village in Rajampet mandal of Kamareddy district. He travelled to the UK in 2025 to study for a Master’s degree at De Montfort University in Leicester.
Student Attended Friend’s Birthday Party
According to his family, Srinath attended a friend’s birthday party on the night of June 22. After the celebration, he stayed at his friend’s house for the night.
However, his friends found him unresponsive the next morning. They immediately informed his parents in Telangana. Meanwhile, police began investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Family Seeks Government Support
The tragic news has left Srinath’s parents heartbroken. Therefore, they appealed to both the Central Government and the Telangana Government for help in bringing their son’s mortal remains back to India.
In addition, the family requested a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of his death.
Relatives Launch GoFundMe Campaign
Meanwhile, Srinath’s relatives in the UK launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for transporting his body to India. The campaign aims to collect £14,000 to cover repatriation expenses.
According to the fundraiser, Srinath was the only son of a farming family. His parents took an education loan and borrowed money from relatives to support his higher studies in the UK.
The organisers said Srinath passed away unexpectedly. They also confirmed that police continue to investigate the case. Therefore, they appealed to people to donate and share the campaign to support the grieving family.
Telugu Community Expresses Grief
The incident has deeply saddened the Telugu community in the UK. Friends, relatives and well-wishers have extended their condolences to Srinath’s family.
Meanwhile, the family is waiting for the investigation to conclude. After that, authorities will begin the process of bringing Srinath’s mortal remains back to India.
