Leaders of the INDIA alliance gathered in New Delhi on Monday for a major INDIA Bloc Meeting, signaling a renewed push for opposition unity ahead of upcoming political battles.
The meeting marked one of the largest gatherings of opposition parties in recent months. Around 25 parties participated, including representatives from the Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP), and Left parties.
Top Opposition Leaders Attend
Senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi attended the meeting.
They were joined by Akhilesh Yadav and several other opposition leaders.
The gathering focused on strengthening coordination among alliance partners and preparing a common strategy for Parliament.
Key Issues Discussed
During the INDIA Bloc Meeting, leaders discussed multiple national issues.
They decided to write to the Chief Justice regarding concerns over electoral rolls. In addition, they demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister over recent examination controversies.
Furthermore, alliance leaders called for an all-party meeting to discuss economic challenges and issues affecting ordinary citizens.
Focus on Parliamentary Coordination
Opposition parties also agreed to hold regular coordination meetings.
Leaders stressed the importance of presenting a united voice inside Parliament. Therefore, the alliance plans to improve communication and strategy among member parties during upcoming sessions.
The bloc believes stronger coordination can help raise key public issues more effectively.
Meeting Held Amid TMC Turmoil
The gathering came at a time when the All India Trinamool Congress is facing internal challenges.
Reports of defections and claims that some MPs may support the NDA have created uncertainty within the opposition camp.
However, alliance leaders downplayed the concerns and emphasized the need for collective action.
Kharge stated that opposition parties would continue working together to challenge what they described as anti-democratic policies and protect constitutional institutions.
Opposition Seeks Fresh Momentum
Despite recent electoral setbacks in several states, INDIA alliance leaders expressed confidence about rebuilding momentum.
They believe a united approach on national issues can strengthen the opposition’s position and provide a stronger challenge to the ruling NDA in the coming years.
