BJP Candidate Kailashchand Gets Just One Vote in Rajasthan Ward Poll

A BJP candidate one vote Rajasthan result has gone viral after Kailashchand polled just a single vote in Ward 13 of Parbatsar municipality, in Rajasthan’s Didwana-Kuchaman district. The results, announced Monday, are part of the state’s broader urban local body elections.

How the Ward Actually Voted

According to the Rajasthan State Election Commission’s website, Congress candidate Hina Khanam won the ward comfortably with 376 votes, while independent candidate Rashid Khan finished second with 195. Kailashchand’s tally of one vote made him the story of the day.

Why He Got Only One Vote

Kailashchand explained the unusual result to PTI himself, saying he is a registered voter of the neighbouring Ward 12, even though the BJP fielded him from Ward 13. He said the single vote he received likely came from someone in Ward 13 itself, since he wasn’t even eligible to vote for himself in that ward.

The Bigger Picture in Parbatsar

Parbatsar municipality has 25 wards in total. Congress won 13, securing a simple majority, while the BJP took 12. The result was one small data point in a much larger exercise, with counting underway across 309 urban local bodies in Rajasthan, covering 10 municipal corporations, 51 municipal councils, and 248 municipalities, and involving more than 10,245 councillor seats statewide.
