New Delhi, June 10: The CM Vijay Delhi Visit gained significance on Wednesday as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay paid courtesy calls on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan during his first official visit to the national capital since assuming office.

The meetings took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan and Uparashtrapati Bhavan as part of established protocol for newly elected Chief Ministers. Furthermore, the interactions highlighted efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Centre and Tamil Nadu.

Photographs released from the meetings showed the Chief Minister exchanging greetings with the President and Vice President. The images also featured the Tamil Nadu state flag and a statue of Adi Shankaracharya.

CM Vijay Delhi Visit Marks Key Political Milestone

The CM Vijay Delhi Visit comes just a month after he took office on May 10, 2026. Vijay became Chief Minister after the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) secured 108 seats in the April 23 Assembly elections.

As a result, TVK formed a coalition government with alliance partners, including Congress. The victory ended decades of political dominance by the DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.

Therefore, Vijay’s visit to New Delhi is being viewed as an important step in establishing working relationships with national institutions and leaders.

President and Vice President Receive CM Vijay

During the meetings, Vijay exchanged views with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan. While the visits were primarily ceremonial, they reflected the importance of Centre-State engagement.

Additionally, the meetings underscored the Tamil Nadu government’s commitment to maintaining constructive relations with constitutional authorities.

Political observers noted that such interactions often help strengthen coordination on governance and development matters.

CM Vijay Delhi Visit Includes NITI Aayog Meeting

Apart from the courtesy calls, the CM Vijay Delhi Visit includes participation in the NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The meeting will focus on cooperative federalism, human capital development, skilling initiatives, and the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. Moreover, Vijay is expected to raise Tamil Nadu’s priorities, including funding support and infrastructure projects.

Focus on Development and Welfare

The Chief Minister’s visit also aims to strengthen Centre-State cooperation on development issues. Key areas of focus include youth welfare, poverty alleviation, employment generation, and urban development.

Meanwhile, supporters of TVK welcomed the meetings and described them as a proud moment for Tamil Nadu. Many viewed the visit as a sign of the state’s growing role in national discussions.

As Vijay continues his three-day Delhi tour, attention will remain on his participation in the NITI Aayog meeting and his interactions with national leaders.
