Vijayawada: YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly criticized the TDP-led coalition government. He claimed that fear is replacing the rule of law in Andhra Pradesh.
In a social media post, Jagan questioned whether people now fear the police more than criminals. He accused the government of encouraging political vendetta through what he called “Red Book governance.”
Jagan Cites Gade Sai Krishna Cases
Jagan referred to the death of Gade Sai Krishna. He alleged that police secretly cremated the body without properly informing the family. He also mentioned Kranti Kumar, who allegedly blamed police harassment in a selfie video before ending his life. According to Jagan, these incidents raise serious questions about police accountability in the state.
More Allegations of Harassment
Jagan also cited the cases of Tirupathamma, Kalavathi, and Gangamma. He claimed that police harassment played a role in these incidents. He said the repeated allegations point to a troubling pattern. According to him, these cases cannot be ignored as isolated events.
“Fear Is Replacing Justice”
The former Chief Minister alleged that authorities first targeted political opponents. Later, they targeted social media activists, journalists, and critics. He claimed that some police officers now act without fear of accountability. Jagan also accused the government of ignoring complaints filed by YSRCP leaders and workers. According to him, this has reduced public trust in the police system.
Questions for the Government
Jagan demanded answers from the state government regarding the recent incidents. He said the Sai Krishna case has shocked many people across Andhra Pradesh. He also urged the Director General of Police, the Home Minister, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to ensure accountability.
Political Tensions Continue
The remarks come amid growing political tensions between the ruling coalition and the opposition YSRCP. While the government has defended its record, the opposition continues to raise concerns about law and order. The issue is likely to remain a major political debate in Andhra Pradesh in the coming months. Ending his statement, Jagan said democracy suffers when fear replaces justice and power replaces the rule of law.
