New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has thanked India after Hyderabad ceremonially named a road near the US Consulate as “Donald Trump Avenue.” Trump called it a special honour and said he was the first US President to receive such recognition in India.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India – The first U.S. President to ever be honored in this way. Thank you!”
Donald Trump Avenue Unveiled in Hyderabad
On June 23, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka unveiled the ceremonial plaque for Donald Trump Avenue.
The road is located next to the US Consulate in Hyderabad. The ceremony formed part of the Freedom 250 celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.
Event Highlights India-US Partnership
The event brought together diplomats, government officials and leaders from the business, defence, aerospace and technology sectors.
Officials said the new road name reflects Hyderabad’s growing role in strengthening India-US relations. They also said the city continues to play an important role in strategic and economic cooperation.
Telangana Leaders Attend the Ceremony
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, US Consul General Laura Williams, and several senior officials attended the programme.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Sergio Gor praised Hyderabad’s rapid development. He said the city has become an important centre for technology, aerospace and defence industries.
He added that Hyderabad continues to strengthen cooperation between India and the United States.
Stronger India-US Relations
Furthermore, Ambassador Gor expressed confidence that India and the United States would expand their partnership in the coming years.
He said both countries are making steady progress in trade, investment, technology and defence. He also said both governments remain committed to strengthening their strategic partnership.
